Historical Recreation Ironwork

Forged by hand, shaped by fire, and guided by tradition — my historically accurate hardware honors the techniques and aesthetics of the blacksmiths who came before us. Each piece I create is more than metal; it’s a link between centuries, a testament to the skill and artistry that defined everyday life in eras past.

Whether you’re restoring an 18th-century home, outfitting a reproduction building, or replacing original ironwork on a historic property, my goal is simple: to make new pieces indistinguishable from the old. Every hinge, latch, hook, and handle is forged in the traditional way — heated in the forge, hammered on the anvil, and finished by hand. I rely on time-honored joinery methods such as riveting, collaring, and forge welding, avoiding modern shortcuts that alter the look or integrity of the work.

My process begins with research. I study surviving examples, period blueprints, and regional styles to ensure each project reflects the correct proportions, textures, and finishes of its time. Colonial, Federal, Victorian, Arts and Crafts — each era has its own language of design, and I take pride in recreating it. Hardware is aged and finished to match surrounding materials, ensuring seamless integration with existing architecture and artifacts.

For historically sensitive restorations, I can reproduce hardware directly from original samples or archival drawings, preserving not just the look but the hand of the original maker. The result is work that feels authentic — hardware with weight, texture, and a sense of permanence. It’s meant to be used, to patina with time, and to become part of the living story of the building it serves.

If you’re a preservation architect, restoration craftsman, or homeowner committed to authenticity, I’d be honored to collaborate with you. Every commission begins with a conversation about your project’s period, purpose, and details. From there, we forge history back to life — one piece at a time.
